Automatic Transmission Rebuilders Association
ATRA - the Automatic Transmission Rebuilders Association - is an international trade association for the professional automatic transmission repair industry. With members across the US and Canada, ATRA's network of automatic transmission repair professionals can offer you repair and warranty coverage anywhere you are likely to drive. Because, wherever you go - from coast to coast - there is always an ATRA member nearby. With nearly 2000 members, ATRA is larger than every automatic transmission repair chain combined - nearly three times the size of the largest chain in the US. Which means that no chain can provide better warranty coverage than ATRA's network of professional service centers. Every ATRA member must adhere to ATRA's Code of Ethics - ATRA's standards for providing honest, professional service. So, when you take your car to an ATRA member, you are assured of polite, professional service, at an honest price. Finding a good auto repair facility is always a concern, especially when the unexpected happens. One important thing to remember is to look for ASE Certification. ASE-certified automotive technicians and other service professionals can be identified in several ways. The most obvious is to look for the ASE sign on the facility. Once inside, most establishments proudly display the ASE certificates earned by their technicians in their office or waiting room. Finally, the technicians may be wearing an ASE patch on the shoulder of their uniform. All ASE-certified professionals are proud of their achievement and are more than willing to show you their credentials. ASE has years of experience helping the automotive industry verify the skills and knowledge of the technicians working at dealerships, independent repair shops, collision shops, franchises, fleets, and more. Car owners and the service and repair industry regard ASE certification as the standard measure of competency and a guide to quality auto repairs. ASE has taken this responsibility one step further by offering a recognition opportunity for highly qualified repair facilities, which allows them to showcase their technicians and their commitment to excellence. It is called the Blue Seal of Excellence Recognition Program. The program’s emphasis is to identify establishments with a large percentage of ASE-certified professionals. Automotive Service Association
The Automotive Service Association, aka ASA, storied history began on May 31, 1951 and is headquarted in the Dallas/Fort Worth Texas area. The 12,000 ASA members perform mechanical, auto body, and transmission repairs and can be identified by its red, white, and blue ASA sign. The organization's purpose is to promote the best interests of the trade, increase its facilities for commercial transactions, and at the same time, offer better service to the public. Also, ASA strives to advance the professionalism and excellence in the automotive repair industry through education, representation and member services. The forefathers of ASA had a vision of uniting independant automotive repair and service facilities like our transmission repair shop into a nation wide trade association, and that goal continues to this day.
BBB Accredited Business
BBBs gather and report information on business reliability, alert the public to frauds against consumers and businesses, provide information on ethical business practices, and act as mutually trusted intermediaries between consumers and businesses to resolve disputes. News media frequently turn to the CBBB and local BBBs as expert sources of news about scams and consumer issues.
Bureau of Automotive Repair
The Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) is part of the California Department of Consumer Affairs. BAR has statutory oversight responsibilities for several statewide licensing programs, including the Smog Check and the Lamp and Brake Certification programs. BAR licenses and regulates more than 35,000 California automotive repair dealers, nearly 2,000 lamp and brake stations, more than 7,500 Smog Check stations, nearly 4,000 lamp and brake technicians, and more than 16,000 Smog Check technicians.
